Managing the documentation of the system

A quality management system based on ISO 9001 requires  comprehensive and detailed documentation, which must be updated and include all aspects that the operating part of the process will subsequently cover. In the case of the Ertzaintza, there are different instructions, procedures, documents and formats in place that set out in writing the way in which the police officers must proceed in each process.

Procedure: Document that describes the way to carry out a set of activities of the organisation by one or more of its members
Instruction: Document that supplements a procedure, describing comprehensively and in detail some of the activities mentioned in the procedure
Format: Model or medium that is used to record and communicate information relating to the Quality System
Documents: Manuals, Regulations, Criteria, Orders, etc., that support and supplement the QMS
